Thursday, August 31, 2017 (Oklahoma City) – Renowned Comedian, “Juice” Deason and NBA great, Russell Westbrook are set to bring you an evening of laughter and premier entertainment with the 2nd Annual “WHY NOT??” Comedy Show taking place Friday, October 13th at the Tower Theatre in Oklahoma City.

“We wanted to create an event that the city of Oklahoma can look forward to as we kick off the Thunder’s NBA season. In addition to making this an inaugural event, we will also choose one organization each year to give back to. Layups2stand is about giving back to the community, and we emphasize that in everything we do”, said Demetrius “Juice” Deason, Founder of LayupstoStandup.

The comedy show is guaranteed to capture the spotlight with the star studded red carpet event featuring celebrities, professional athletes, Corporate partners, and the social set of Oklahoma. The comedian lineup is said to have everyone on the edge of their seats, with the announcement coming soon.

This years’ beneficiary will be YWCA Oklahoma. YWCA is the oldest and longest running organization in the world that aims to helping and empowering women. Their services range from offering safe places to women who have suffered rape or domestic violence, job training, health and fitness, childcare, and counseling. Before the big championship game on Monday night, the biggest names in sports will converge on Houston’s nightlife looking for the best entertainment the city has to offer. The Phi Slama Jama Jam event will take place from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. on April 2, 2016, at Social Junkie located at 2412 Washington Ave.

Hosted by SLAM Magazine, One Pass Away and the Nina Zavala Group, the Phi Slama Jama Jam will unite industry and sports power players with Houston’s elite social scene as they celebrate the storied history of The University of Houston’s Phi Slama Jama men’s basketball team. Several celebrities have confirmed their appearances including special invited guests and Hall of Fame basketball icons Clyde “The Glide” Drexler and Hakeem “The Dream” Olajuwon, who will be on hand to receive special honors for their place in the annals of Houston’s basketball lore.

Houston’s own DJ Mr. Rogers and DJ Kiotti will be in the mix keeping the invite only crowd entertained all evening. “Phi Slama Jama Jam” partners include, New Amsterdam Vodka, Gurkha Cigars, Sports Mix Live, and BMW.

7th Annual Thanksgiving Hoopfest Kicks off with Top Basketball TalentThis year the 7th Annual “Thanksgiving Hoopfest” took place over Thanksgiving weekend at the Sandra Meadows Arena in Duncanville, TX. The annual event allows H.S. players to showcase their skills in front of College Coaches, Scouts, Media and their basketball fans. Attendees of this 2 day event had the opportunity to witness some of the Nation’s elite high school prospects battling it out.

Despite the Dallas shakey weather and Black Friday shopping madness, the Thanksgiving Hoopfest still had sports fans, media outlets, scouts & coaches entertained and for good reason. These teams from across the country came to have their chance to leave victorious from this holiday tournament.

The weekend concluded with the ever so hyped matchup between two of the best PGs in the Country, De’Aaron Fox (Cy Lakes) and Andrew Jones (MacArthur). The two went toe to toe, to deliver an undeniable show that wowed the crowd, presumably making this the matchup of the year.

DeAaron Fox (Cy Lakes) Regarded as top PG in class of 2016 with 31 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists.

Andrew Jones (Irving MacArthur)- Top PG in the class of 2016 with 29 points, five rebounds, and two assists.

Trae Young (Norman North) No. 25 player in class of 2017 by ESPN with an averaged 38 points, 6.5 assists, and four rebounds two games played.

Schnider Herard (Plano Prestonwood) Finished with 22 points and 8 rebounds.

Cam McGriff (South Grand Prairie) 26 points, seven rebounds and six assists.

Harrison Henderson (South Grand Prairie) 13 points and six rebounds.

R.J. Nembhard (Keller Central) 22 points

C.J. Roberts (Richland) ranked 85 in class of 2017 Finished with 31 points, two assists, and two rebounds.

DeAndre Williams (SATCH) Finished with 23 points and 13 rebounds.

DALLAS, Texas (November18, 2015) — D/FW is gearing up for the 7th Annual Thanksgiving HoopFest 2015 from November 27th-28th in Duncanville, TX. For the past six years, the nation’s top high school basketball players have flocked to Dallas to compete against each other and showcase their talent in front of notable coaches, scouts, fans, and basketball enthusiasts.

Thanksgiving HoopFest helps to illustrate why Dallas is considered the new ‘mecca’ of basketball by putting the top teams in the Dallas/Fort Worth area against many of the top teams in the United States. Marquee players this year include, De’Aaron Fox, Trae Young, Schnider Herard, Andrew Jones, JJ Caldwell, Cameron McGriff, RJ Nembhard, just to name a few.

MaxPreps, a CBSSports.com site, has named Thanksgiving HoopFest as one of the top Showcase events in the country.

IMG_8694Last year, the event drew over 5,000 spectators, and this year, the event is expected to draw an even larger crowd. Some college coaches that have previously attended the event include Bill Self from the University of Kansas, John Calipari from the University of Kentucky, Mike Krzyzewski (“Coach K”) from Duke University, Scott Drew from Baylor University and Johnny Jones from Louisiana State University.
